Chachapoyas, Peru

Chachapoyas is a city in northern Peru at an elevation of 2,235 meters (7,657 ft). The city has a population of approximately 20,279 people. Situated in the mountains far from the Peruvian coast, Chachapoyas remains fairly isolated from other regions of Peru. There is daily service by bus to Chiclayo and Cajamarca. The bus from Chiclayo is an overnight bus but to Cajamarca due to the difficult and winding roads the bus only goes during the day.

Colcamar District

Colcamar is a district of Luya Province in Peru. Colcamar offers several attractive places for tourists like cataracts, ruins of the culture Chachapoya. The management holidays of the capital Colcamar are celebrated on September 24. As typical meals there is known the Chochoca, the Nickname, the Locro, the Stew between others. In Chuquichaca there is the Virgin of Chuquichaca that receives veneration of the local and regional population.

Chachapoyas Province

Chachapoyas is a province of the Amazonas Region, Peru. The province of Chachapoyas was a part of the department of Trujillo (according to the supreme decree of February 12, 1821) being its capital the city of Chachapoyas. After the department of Amazonas was created, by law of November 21, 1832, it became a province of the Amazonas region, and the city of Chachapoyas remained a regional capital.
