Mantayupan Falls

Mantayupan Falls is found in Cebu, Philippines. It is located close to the east end of Carcar-Barili Road where it connects to the national highway. The falls are approximately 200 feet high but do not have a direct descent. Pools at various heights flow into the basin. The waterfall is one of three main tourist attractions in the interior barangays of Barili.

Central Visayas

Central Visayas, designated as Region VII, is a region of the Philippines located in the central part of the Visayas island group. It consists of four provinces—Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor— and the highly urbanized cities of Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Mandaue City. The region is dominated by the native speakers of Cebuano. Cebu City is its regional center. The land area of the region is 15,875 km².

Tañon Strait

Tañon Strait lies between the islands of Negros and Cebu in the Philippines. The strait connects the Visayan Sea to the Bohol Sea. The Tañon Strait is known for whale and dolphin watching, with tour boats operating from a wharf in Bais City.

1957 Cebu Douglas C-47 crash

The 1957 crash of a Douglas C-47 plane named "Mt. Pinatubo" on the slopes of Mount Manunggal, Cebu, Philippines, killed the 7th President of the Philippines, Ramon Magsaysay, and 24 other passengers. The crash is estimated to have occurred at 1:40:00 AM, March 17, 1957, Philippine Standard Time . Several high-ranking Philippine government and military officials, as well as journalists, were also among the dead.
