Air Philippines Flight 541

Air Philippines Flight 541 was a domestic Air Philippines flight from Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila to Davao International Airport in Davao City. It crashed on April 19, 2000 as it was preparing to land in Davao, killing all 131 passengers and crew members. It was the deadliest air disaster in the history of the Philippines. The aircraft, Boeing 737-2H4, registration RP-C3010, formerly N50SW, previously owned by Southwest Airlines was first delivered in February 1978.

Lupon, Davao Oriental

Lupon is a 1st class municipality in the province of Davao Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 57,092 people in 10,812 households. Lupon is said to have derived its name from the native word "naluponan" meaning, a body of land accumulated at the mouth of a river resulting from years of continued accretion". The settlers shortened the word "naluponan" into what is called now "Lupon".
