Lake Cerrillos

Lake Cerrillos is a man-made lake located in barrio Maraguez, Ponce, Puerto Rico. The lake was finished in 1992 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The main purposes of the reservoir are flood control, water supply, and recreation. There is a variety of fish available for fishing such as lobinas, tucunares, chopas, barbudos y tilapias. The 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games that were held in Ponce staged the canoeing competitions in this lake.

Bajadero, Puerto Rico

Bajadero is a barrio of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. It is known for its class B baseball team, the Atleticos of Bajadero. Bajadero has its own post office and a joint elementary and intermediate school, Ramon Emeterio Betancez. 32x28px Puerto Rico portal The name Bajadero comes from the 1940s when women would go to the river to do their laundry. Many of them dreaded the chore because they would have to climb steep slopes "bajadas" to reach the river.
