Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad

The Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad (Holy Trinity Church), an Episcopal church building located at the intersection of Marina, Mayor, and Abolicion streets in Ponce, Puerto Rico, was the first Episcopal church built in Latin America. The building dates to 1873. It was the only Protestant church in Puerto Rico at the time of the American invasion in 1898. Its architect or designer is unknown. The structure was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1986.

Ponce massacre

The Ponce massacre was the largest massacre in Puerto Rican history. It occurred on Palm Sunday, 21 March 1937, when a peaceful civilian march in Ponce, Puerto Rico, turned into a police slaughter that killed 19 Puerto Ricans and wounded over 200 others. The march had been organized by the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party to commemorate the abolition of slavery in Puerto Rico by the governing Spanish National Assembly in 1873. The march was also protesting the U.S.
