Terek Stadium

Akhmat-Arena is a multi-use stadium in Grozny, Russia, named after former President of the Chechen Republic Akhmad Kadyrov. It was completed in May 2011, and is used mostly for football matches. The stadium hosts home matches of FC Terek Grozny. The stadium was designed with a capacity of 30,000 spectators. It replaced Sultan Bilimkhanov Stadium as the home of FC Terek.

Battle of Khankala

Battle of Khankala was a failed attempt by the Chechen to counterattack at the strategic position at Khankala from Grozny and Argun using armoured vehicles. Khankala is the former Soviet military base and airstrip at the eastern outskirts of Grozny, also overtaking the main Rostov-Baku highway and cutting direct access into the Chechen capital of Grozny from the town of Argun.

Sultan Bilimkhanov Stadium

Sultan Bilimkhanov Stadium is a stadium in Grozny, Russia. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of FC Terek Grozny(reserves). The stadium holds 10,200 seats. Before the start of the 2008 Premier League season, the Russian Football Union granted Terek the right to host Premier League matches in Grozny on this stadium. Before that from the 1990s to 2007 the club played its home games in the neighboring resort city of Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai.

Khankala

Khankala is a settlement in Groznensky District of the Chechen Republic, Russia, located to the east of Grozny, the republic's capital. Population: 7,908. The settlement is the location of a Russian military base, the headquarters of the 42nd Motor Rifle Division, and an airstrip. It was the site of the Battle of Khankala in 1994.

2002 Khankala Mi-26 crash

2002 Khankala Mi-26 crash occurred on August 19, 2002, when a team of Chechen separatists with a man-portable air-defense system brought down a Russian Mil Mi-26 helicopter in a minefield and resulted in the death of 127 Russian soldiers in the greatest loss of life in the history of helicopter aviation. It was also the most deadly aviation disaster ever suffered by the Russian armed forces, as well as their worst loss of life in a single day since 1999.
