2002 Grozny OMON ambush

The 2002 Grozny OMON ambush occurred on April 18, 2002, when the Chechen insurgents killed about 21 and wounded seven republican OMON special police officers. The ambush occurred just 90 metres from Chechnya's main police headquarters. The first bus in convoy hit a remote controlled mine, and the militants then opened fire on the line of vehicles from ruins of a nearby high-rise building.

Terek Stadium

Akhmat-Arena is a multi-use stadium in Grozny, Russia, named after former President of the Chechen Republic Akhmad Kadyrov. It was completed in May 2011, and is used mostly for football matches. The stadium hosts home matches of FC Terek Grozny. The stadium was designed with a capacity of 30,000 spectators. It replaced Sultan Bilimkhanov Stadium as the home of FC Terek.

Battle of Khankala

Battle of Khankala was a failed attempt by the Chechen to counterattack at the strategic position at Khankala from Grozny and Argun using armoured vehicles. Khankala is the former Soviet military base and airstrip at the eastern outskirts of Grozny, also overtaking the main Rostov-Baku highway and cutting direct access into the Chechen capital of Grozny from the town of Argun.
