Etoka, Russia

Etoka is a rural locality in Predgorny District of Stavropol Krai, Russia, located 2 kilometers south of Lake Tambukan, by the Etoka River, by the foot of the Mount Dzhutsa. Population is about 3,600 (2007 est.). It was established in the early 19th century as the khutor of Sablya (Са́бля). Present name was given to the village around 1897–1899. The name is derived from the Kabardian/Adyghe languages, where it means "mud valley".

Mashuk

Mashuk is an isolated mountain in the North Caucasus overlooking the city of Pyatigorsk in Stavropol Krai in Russia. The height of the mountain is 993 m. Mashuk is a laccolith with a crystal nucleus, buried under sedimentary rock. The top of the mountain is flattened and domelike. There is a cavern called "Proval" (depth - 20 m) on the southern slope of Mashuk. The slopes of the mountain are covered with broadleaved forests.

Beshtau

Beshtau (Russian: Бештау, from Turkic besh 'five' and tau 'mountain') is an isolated five-domed igneous mountain near Pyatigorsk (after the Russian term Pyatigorye 'area of five mountains') in the Northern Caucasus. Its height is 1402 m. The slopes are forested with ash, oak, hornbeam, and beech, and the summit is treeless. Beshtau used to have uranium mines, which were closed in 1985.

Lake Tambukan

Tambukan Lake is a lake with bitter-salt water on Northern Caucasus in Stavropol Krai (about 33% surface) and the Kabardino-Balkar Republic (about 66% surface) of Russia, located eight kilometers from Pyatigorsk. The lake's surface area is 1.87 square kilometers, and its depth ranges between 1.5–3.1 meters. The lake bed is a thick layer of silt, which has been used since 1886) in institutions for mud cures in Yessentuki and other therapeutic mud baths in the region of Caucasian Mineral Water.
