The church is situated at the confluence of Nerl and Klyazma Rivers in Bogolyubovo, Suzdalsky District, Vladimir Oblast, 13 km north-east of the ancient capital of Vladimir. The church was commissioned by Andrei Bogolyubsky. The exact construction date is unknown.
