Badr, Saudi Arabia

Badr is a town in Al Medina Province, in the western part of Saudi Arabia. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:23|46|48|N|38|47|26|E| | |name= }} about 80 miles from the Islamic holy city of Medina. It was the location of the famous Battle of Badr between the Quraish of Mecca and the Muslims of Medina in 624.

Battle of Badr

The Battle of Badr, fought 13 March 624 CE in the Hejaz region of western Arabia, was a key battle in the early days of Islam and a turning point in Muhammad's struggle with his opponents among the Quraish in Mecca. The battle has been passed down in Islamic history as a decisive victory attributable to divine intervention, or by secular sources to the strategic genius of Muhammad. It is one of the few battles specifically mentioned in the Quran.
