Los Millares

Los Millares is the name of a Chalcolithic occupation site 17 km north of Almería, in the municipality of Santa Fe de Mondújar, Andalusia, Spain. The complex was in use from the end of the fourth millennium to the end of the second millennium BC and probably supported somewhere around 1000 people. It was discovered in 1891 during the course of the construction of a railway and was first excavated by Luis Siret in the succeeding years. Further excavation work continues today.

Andarax

The Andarax River or River Andarax—also, in its lower reaches, Almería River or River Almería—is a river in the province of Almería, Andalusia, Spain. It arises in the easternmost part of the Sierra Nevada in the Cerro del Almirez. Its entire course is within the province of Almería. It flows through they Valley of Andarax south of the Sierra Nevada, running easterly, and joins the River Nacimiento at the village of Terque, below which it is more commonly called the Almería River.

Poniente Almeriense

Poniente Almeriense or Campo de Dalías is a comarca in Almería, Spain. It is sometimes also known as the "sea of plastic" (Mar de plastico) due to the numerous greenhouses that cover the area. The comarca contains nine municipalities and 218,426 inhabitants in an area of 971 km². The "sea of plastic" was one of the subjects of We feed the world, a 2005 documentary.
