La Hoya, Alava

The ancient town of La Hoya is a most important archaeological site of the Bronze and Iron Ages of the Basque Country and nearby areas of Spain. The fortified town was inhabited between the 15th and 3rd centuries BCE and occupies four hectares. It has three levels: Middle-Late Bronze Age: in this early period, the fortifications, as well the houses, were all made of wood. Early-Middle Iron Age: construction became more complex using mixed formulas with stone, wood and adobe.

Laguardia, Álava

Laguardia is a town and municipality located in the province of Álava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain. The site of a 10th century castle, of which two towers remain, the present village has medieval walls dating back to the 15th century surrounding the houses and old cobblestoned streets. The village has many tunnels dug out of the rock, used for storage of the local Rioja wine, some of which can be visited. It is the hometown of the Spanish fabulist Félix María de Samaniego (1745–1801).

La chabola de la Hechicera

La chabola de la Hechicera (Spanish for "The Witch's Hut") is a dolmen group located in Elvillar, Álava, in the Basque Country in Spain. Three vertical big stones support a big horizontal flat stone. 9 big stones form chamber in a poligonal shape. The corridor is made of 5 stones and it is divided into two. Probably it was a funerary construction to hold the remains of people in this settlement. It was discovered in 1935 by Álvaro de Gortázar in a good enough state of preservation.
