Yaiza, Las Palmas

Yaiza is a municipality of Las Palmas province, in Lanzarote on the Canary Islands, Spain. It is in the southwest of the island of Lanzarote. It is also a town within the municipality as described above. With recently (2011) tree-lined roads, the town houses a townhall and has a floodlit public football stadium. Yaiza is famous for its 2 major towns, Puerto Calero, Playa Blanca and the lagoon of Charco Verde which features a green pond and colorful rims (located adjacent to El Golfo).

Lanzarote

Lanzarote, a Spanish island, is the easternmost of the autonomous Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 125 km off the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula. Covering 845.9 km, it stands as the fourth largest of the islands. The first recorded name for the island, given by Angelino Dulcert, was Insula de Lanzarotus Marocelus, after the Genoese navigator Lancelotto Malocello, from which the modern name is derived.
