Bot, Tarragona

Bot is a town located in the comarca of Terra Alta, province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located between the Serra de la Solsida and the Serra dels Pesells ranges. In 2003 Bot had a total population of 793. The people in the town of Bot have been traditionally engaged in wine production. There was a RENFE railway line from Tortosa to Alcañiz and Zaragoza that used to pass through Bot until 1973.

Terra Alta is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) (Denominació d’Origen in Catalan) for wines located in the west of the province of Tarragona and covers 12 inland municipalities. Battle of Maella

The Battle of Maella was a battle of the First Carlist War, occurring on October 1, 1838, near the Aragonese town of Maella. The battle was a Carlist victory and resulted in the routing of most of the Liberal forces. The Carlist forces were composed of some 3,500 infantrymen and 500 cavalry. The Liberals counted on some 5,000 infantry and 300 cavalry.
