Tres Cantos

Tres Cantos is a township and municipality located in the autonomous community of Madrid, Spain, some 22 km north of the capital city, Madrid. As a "satellite city" of Madrid which was conceived by urban planners as recently as the 1970s, it is the youngest incorporated municipality in Spain, with a population (2012 National Statistics figures) of approximately 41.065. Tres Cantos was the Spanish bid host city for the 2018 Ryder Cup.

New Castle of Manzanares el Real

The New Castle of Manzanares el Real, also known as Castle of los Mendoza, is a palace-fortress erected in the 15th century in the town of Manzanares el Real, next to the reservoir of Santillana at the foot of Sierra de Guadarrama. Its construction began in 1475 on a Romanesque-Mudéjar hermitage and today is one of the best preserved castles of the Community of Madrid.

Guadarrama Tunnel

The Guadarrama Tunnel is a railway tunnel across the Sierra de Guadarrama, along the high speed route Madrid–Valladolid in Spain. The tunnel has two tubes. The western tube is 28,407 m long and the eastern tube 28,418 m long, and it is the longest tunnel in Spain (when not counting the Line 12 tunnel in the Madrid Metro). The tunnel was opened for traffic in December 2007. The tunnel is used by the AVE high speed trains.
