Second Battle of the Corunna Road

The Second Battle of the Corunna Road (Batalla de la Carretera de Coruña) was a battle of the Spanish Civil War that took place from 13 December 1936 to 15 January 1937, northwest of Madrid. In December 1936, the Nationalists launched an offensive in order to cut the Corunna Road and isolate Madrid, but a Republican counter-offensive stopped the Nationalist advance. The Nationalists cut the Corunna road but failed to encircle Madrid.

Alcorcón

Alcorcón is a city in the metropolitan area of Madrid, Spain; As of 2010, it had a population of 168,229. It is located in the autonomous community of Madrid in central Spain. It is located 13 km to the south-west of Madrid. The site appears to have been inhabited since prehistoric times. The name is of Arabic origin, but little is known of Alcorcón before the Reconquista. An early written reference to Alcorcón is in a medieval document that dates from 28 July 1208.

Madrid Xanadú

Madrid Xanadú is a large shopping mall and entertainment center in Arroyomolinos, Madrid, Spain at the Autovía de Extremadura section. The Mall is one of Europe's largest and most recognized, with over 222 shops, eateries, and a 15-screen Cinesa Movie Theater. The main attraction is Madrid SnowZone, a huge covered track, used for skiing and to go snowboarding. The track is from a Canadian company, Intrawest.
