Vinalopó

The Vinalopó is a small river flowing through the Alicante province, of Spain. It flows from north to south and, with a length of 81 km. , it is the longest of the rivers which flows for its entire length within the limits of this province. It discharges into the Mediterranean at Salinas de Santa Pola. For some historians, it corresponds to the Alebus incidentally mentioned by Avienus in his Ora Maritima.

Serra Mariola

The Serra Mariola is a mountain range in the Valencian Community, Spain, one of the most peripheral offsprings of the Baetic System. Most if its territory is included in a natural park founded in 2002, covering an area of 17,257 ha. It has a rectangular shape and altitudes higher than 1,000 metres, the highest peak being the Montcabrer, at 1,389 metres high. To the north the Benicadell Mountain Range has a peak bearing the same name and is 1,104 metres high.

Onil

Onil is a town located in the comarca of L'Alcoià, in the province of Alicante, Spain. It has an area of 48.41 km² and, according to the 2006 census, a total population of 7466 inhabitants and a population density of 154.22 inhab/km². Onil is located next to the mountain called Sierra de Onil in the Sierra de Mariola, 36 km from Alicante city. The economy of Onil is based on the industries of toy, construction and farming.

Beneixama photovoltaic power plant

Beneixama photovoltaic power plant is a 20 MW photovoltaic power plant located in Beneixama, Spain. The plant consists of approximately 100,000 solar panels, encompassing an area of approximately 500,000 m. The panels are City Solar PQ 200 modules made of polycrystalline silicon solar cells. In addition, 200 units of Siemens photovoltaic inverters "Sinvert Solar 100 Master" were installed. The plant was built by City Solar, and completed in September, 2007.

Battle of Castalla (1812)

In the Battle of Castalla (21 July 1812) a small Spanish army commanded by Joseph O'Donnell advanced to attack an Imperial French division under the leadership of Jean Isidore Harispe. O'Donnell's battle plan was poorly conceived and the outnumbered French smashed his center column before his right and left wings could intervene. The engagement occurred during the Peninsular War, part of the Napoleonic Wars. The battle was fought near Castalla, 32 kilometres north-west of Alicante, Spain.
