Caudete

Caudete is a municipality in Albacete, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It has a population of 10.157 (From INE2008) and is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:38|42|00|N|000|58|59|W|region:ES_type:city |primary |name= }}. In the later statges of the reconquista, Caudete was at the focus of tensions between Castile and Aragon, since James I of Aragon conquered it from the Moors though it should have been reserved to Castile under the treaties of Tudilén and Cazorla.

Battle of Almansa

The Battle of Almansa, fought on 25 April 1707, was one of the most decisive engagements of the War of the Spanish Succession. At Almansa, the Franco–Spanish army under Berwick soundly defeated the allied forces of Portugal, England, and the United Provinces led by the Earl of Galway, reclaiming most of eastern Spain for the Bourbons. It has been described as "probably the only Battle in history in which the English forces were commanded by a Frenchman, the French by an Englishman."
