Kinniya

It is a small town in the Trincomalee District of the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. It is located about 20 km from the town of Trincomalee and 240 km from the national capital Colombo. With over 35,000 inhabitants, 97% of Kinniya residents are ethnic Muslims with the remaining being Tamils. Located in Sri Lanka's dry zone, the Kinniya region often experiences hot and dry weather with very little precipitation.

Mahaweli River

The Mahaweli River (Sinhala: මහවැලි ගඟ, literally "Great Sandy River"; Tamil: மகாவலி ஆறு), is a 335 km long river, ranking as the longest river in Sri Lanka. Its drainage basin is the largest in the country, and covers almost one-fifth of the total area of the island. The river reaches the Bay of Bengal on the southwestern side of Trincomalee Bay. The bay includes the first of a number submarine canyons, making Trincomalee one of the finest deep-sea harbors in the world.

SLAF China Bay

Triconamalee airport திருகோணமலை விமான நிலையம்-(சைனா பே விமான படை தளம்) is a Sri Lanka Air Force base located at China Bay, Trincomalee. The airbase is situated close to the coast and has a long runway which is capable of handling all wide-body aircraft, except for the Airbus A380. Currently the largest aircraft using the airport is a Boeing 727-200 operated by Lankan Cargo. Battle of Trincomalee

The Battle of Trincomalee was the fourth in the series of battles fought between a British fleet under Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Hughes and a French fleet under the Bailli de Suffren off the coast of India during the American Revolutionary War. The battle was fought on 3 September 1782.
