Mbeya Range is a volcanic mountain range in Mbeya Region, in southwestern Tanzania, East Africa. It forms an arc just north of the town of Mbeya and includes Loleza Peak (2656 m. ), Mbeya Peak (2565 m. ), Nyanuwa Peak (2332 m. ), and Pungulumo (1909 m.). The range is at the junction of the eastern Gregory Rift and western Albertine Rift valleys. and is in Rungwe volcanic province.

Sokoine Stadium
Sokoine Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Mbeya, Tanzania. It is used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue for Prisons FC and Mbeya United. It holds 10,000 people. It was named Sokoine Stadium after the death of the Prime Minister of Tanzanian Republic in 1984, but was previously named the Mapinduzi Stadium. On 18th August 2011 the stadium was closed for refurbishment works to make the pitch smoother to play on ahead of the Tanzanian First Division league kicking off.

Mbeya is the capital of the surrounding rural Mbeya region (population, with Mbeya, totals approx. 2 million). Mbeya is the first large urban settlement encountered when travelling overland from the neighbouring nation of Zambia. Mbeya is situated at an altitude of 1,700 meters (5,500 ft), and sprawls through a narrow highland valley surrounded by a bowl of high mountains.

Tanzanonautes tuerkayi is a species of fossil freshwater crab from Tanzania, the only species in the genus Tanzanonautes. It is the oldest known freshwater crab, and probably dates from the Oligocene; the next oldest specimens are from the Miocene. A number of fragmentary remains were discovered in the Songwe Valley part of the East African Rift in Mbeya Region, Tanzania, in fragile sandstone sediments.
