Menzel Jemil

Menzel Jemil is a coastal town and municipality in northeastern Tunisia, 60 km north of the capital, Tunis. Administratively it is located in the Menzel Jemil Delegation of the Bizerte Governorate. Geographically Menzel Jemil is located on the east side of the Bizerte Lagoon and it is now considered part of the city of Bizerte metropolitan area. The municipality had 18,344 inhabitants (As of 2004 census). Menzel Jemil means "The beautiful hostel" in Arabic.

Menzel Abderrahmane

Menzel Abderrahmane is a town and commune in the Bizerte Governorate, Tunisia. As of 2004 it had a population of 16,824. Menzel Abderrahmane (منزل عبد الرحمان) is a town about sixty miles north of Tunis on the north shore of Lake Bizerte. It is part of the town of Bizerte which it is separated only a few kilometers. Attached to the Governorate of Bizerte, it belongs to the delegation of Menzel Jemil and is a municipality with 16,824 inhabitants in 2004 [1 1].

Battle of Utica (49 BC)

The Battle of Utica (49 BC) was fought between Julius Caesar's general Gaius Scribonius Curio and Numidian cavalry and foot soldiers sent by King Juba I of Numidia and commanded by Publius Attius Varus. Curio defeated the Numidians and drove Varus back into the town of Utica.

Battle of the Great Plains

The Battle of the Great plains (also known as Battle of Campi Magni, Battle of Bagrades) was a battle fought between Scipio Africanus of Rome and a combined Carthaginian and Numidian army late in the Second Punic War, designed as diversionary tactic by Rome to disrupt Hannibal's attack on Italy. By defeating the Carthaginians, Scipio Africanus caused Hannibal to leave Italy and return to Africa, where he was later defeated at the battle of Zama.
