Denizköy VLF transmitter

Denizköy VLF transmitter, also known as Bafa transmitter, is a facility of US Navy for military VLF transmission near Denizköy in Dikili distrct of Izmir Province, Turkey at 37°24'43"N 27°19'25. The facility situated at Denizköy uses two 380 metres tall guyed masts, which are the tallest man-made structures in Turkey. The transmitter is active on 26700 Hz under the callsign TBB.

Battle of Lade (201 BC)

The Battle of Lade (Greek: Ναυμαχία της Λάδης) was fought between the navy of Rhodes and the navy of Macedon. The battle took place in 201 BC and it was part of the Cretan War. The battle was fought off the shore of Asia Minor and the island of Lade, near Miletus. The battle ended in a crushing victory for the Macedonians and it nearly spelled the end for the Rhodians but the result of this battle caused the Romans to intervene and Rhodes was saved.

Lake Bafa Nature Park

Lake Bafa or Lake Bafa Nature Park (Turkish: Bafa Gölü Tabiat Parkı) is a lake and a nature reserve situated in southwestern Turkey, part of it within the boundaries of Milas district of Muğla Province and the northern part within Aydın Province's Söke district. The lake used to be a gulf of the Aegean Sea until the Classical period, when the sea passage was gradually closed by the alluvial mass brought by Büyük Menderes River. The gulf, and later the lake, was named Latmus in antiquity.
