Interesting facts about this location

Macestos Bridge

The Macestos Bridge or Bridge of Sultançayır was a Roman segmental arched bridge across the Macestos River (Turkish: Simav or Susurluk Çayı) at Balıkesir, in the northwestern part of modern-day Turkey. Small deltas have formed where the latter enter the lake, comprising extensive marshes and tree-lined riverbanks. Narrow belts of reed Phragmites fringe much of the lake. Water is abstracted for factory use and for irrigation.
