HMS Arno (1915)

HMS Arno was a unique destroyer of the Royal Navy that saw service and was lost during First World War. She was under construction in Genoa, Italy for the friendly Portuguese Navy as Liz in 1914 when she was bought by the Royal Navy for service in the Mediterranean. As such she joins the Town-class of the Second World War as the only other Royal Navy destroyer type not designed and built in the United Kingdom.

Çanakkale Suspension Bridge

The Çanakkale Suspension Bridge is a planned suspension bridge located at the western end of the Sea of Marmara, close to Çanakkale and approximately 200 kilometers from Istanbul, Turkey. It will be one of the longest suspension bridges in the world by length of central span. The bridge will be part of the Çanakkale-Tekirdağ-Kınalı-Balıkesir highway project. The construction tender is expected to be given in 2013.

Aegospotami

Aegospotami (Αἰγὸς Ποταμοί) or Aegospotamos (i.e. Goat Streams) is the ancient Greek name for a small river issuing into the Hellespont (Modern Turkish Çanakkale Boğazı), northeast of Sestos. At its mouth was the scene of the decisive battle in 405 BCE by which Lysander destroyed the Athenian fleet, ending the Peloponnesian War.
