Düzce Province

Düzce Province is a province in northwestern Turkey. It is on the coastline of the Black Sea and is traversed by the main highway between Istanbul and Ankara. The main town is Düzce. There are ancient Greek ruins in the province. Düzce broke off from Bolu province and became a province in its own right after a devastating earthquake in the city in November 1999.

1999 Düzce earthquake

The Düzce earthquake of 1999 was an earthquake that occurred on 12 November 1999 at 18.57 local time with a moment magnitude of 7.2, causing damage and 894 fatalities in Duzce, Turkey. The epicenter was approx. 100 km to the east of the moment magnitude 7.4 1999 İzmit earthquake of 17 August 1999, which killed over 17,000 people. The earthquake occurred on the North Anatolian Fault.

Beyköy, Düzce

Beyköy is a town the central district of Düzce Province, Turkey. At {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:40|46|N|31|10|E||| | |name= }} it is 7 kilometres South of Düzce. As of 2011 the population of the town was 4510 as of 2011. According to mayor’s page the population of the town is mostly composed of refuges from Balkan countries and Caucasus as well as people from East Black Sea provinces of Turkey. In 1991 The settlement was declared a seat of township.
