Lake Amik

Lake Amik or the Lake of Antioch was a large freshwater lake in the basin of the Orontes River in Hatay Province, Turkey; it was located north-east of the ancient city of Antioch. The lake was drained during a period from the 1940s-1970s.

Afrin River

The Afrin River is a tributary of the Orontes River in Turkey and Syria. It rises in the Kartal Mountains in Gaziantep Province, Turkey, flows south through the city of Afrin in Syria, then reenters Turkey. It joins the Karasu at the site of the former Lake Amik, and its waters now flow to the Orontes by a canal. Church of St Peter

The Church of Saint Peter near Antakya, Turkey, is composed of a cave carved into the mountainside on Mount Starius with a depth of 13 m (42 ft. ), a width of 9.5 m (31 ft. ) and a height of 7 m (23 ft). This cave, which was used by early Christians in the Antakya region, is one of Christianity's oldest churches.

Roche-Guillaume
