Musa Dagh Resistance

Musa Dagh was the site of resistance by the Armenians during the Armenian Genocide. The denizens of that region had been given an official order from the Turkish government where they became violently expelled from their six villages (Kabusia, Yoghunoluk, Bitias, Vakef, Kheter Bey, Haji Habibli) by the Ottomans in 1915. As Ottoman Turkish forces converged upon the town, the populace aware of the impending danger fell back upon Musa mountain and repeatedly thwarted assaults for fifty-three days.

Seldiren

Seldiren is a village in Samandağı district of Hatay Province, Turkey. It is in the forests of Nur (Amanus) Mountains at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|14|N|35|59|E||| | |name= }}. Distance to Samandağ is about 20 kilometres . The population of the village is 510. as of 2011. The village was founded in the early 1800s by people from north of Hatay Province. The main economic activity is agriculture and forestry.

Gözcüler (former Alakop) is a town in İskenderun district of Hatay Province, Turkey. It is situated to the south of İskenderun and to the east of Arsuz (Uluçınar) at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|23|N|35|55|E||| | |name= }}. Although not a coastal town, the distance to Mediterranean Sea coast is only 5 kilometres . The distannce to İskenderun is 32 kilometres and to Antakya (province center) is 96 kilometres . The population is 7816 of 2011.

Kapısuyu is a village in Samandağı district of Hatay Province, Turkey. It is near the Mediterranean coastline and in the western slopes of the Nur (Amanus) Mountains at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|08|N|35|56|E||| | |name= }}. Distance to Samandağ is about 10 kilometres . The population of the village is 1773. as of 2011. The village was an important settlement in the ancient ages. Around 300 BC Seleucia founded the port city of Seleucia Pieria.

Seleucia Pieria

Seleucia Pieria (Greek Σελεύκεια ἐν Πιερίᾳ, later Suedia) was a town in antiquity, the capital of Seleucus I Nicator, in Syria Prima. It was the port of the western Seleucid capital of Antioch, lying close to the mouth of the Orontes. Its ruins lie at the seaside village of Çevlik near the town of Samandağ in the Hatay Province of Turkey. Seleucia, Apamea, Laodicea, and Antioch formed the Syrian tetrapolis.
