Battle of Sarikamish

The Battle of Sarikamish (Russian: Сражение при Сарыкамыше; Turkish: Sarıkamış Muharebesi or Sarıkamış Savaşı) was an engagement between the Russian and Ottoman empires during World War I. It took place from December 22, 1914 to January 17, 1915 as part of the Caucasus Campaign. The outcome was a Russian victory. The Ottomans employed a strategy which demanded that their troops be highly mobile and to arrive at specified objectives at precise times.

Oluklu

Oluklu is a village in Selim district of Kars Province, Turkey. It is situated in high plains at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:40|19|N|42|53|E||| | |name= }}, The distance to Selim is 25 kilometres and to Kars is 45 kilometres . The population of Oluklu is 1574 as of 2011. Up to 2011 Oluklu was a village in Kağızman district.

Allahüekber Dağları

The Allahüekber Dağları (Allahüekber Mountains, which means "Allahu akbar Mountains"), is a range of mountains in northeast Turkey. In 1914 when World War I started it was astride the border with Russia, and a Turkish army suffered a disaster when, ordered to invade the Kars area (which was then part of Russia), thousands of its men died of cold in the winter snow of the Allahüekber Dağları: see Battle of Sarikamis.
