Mary Airport

Mary Airport is the second largest international airport in Turkmenistan. In March 2009, the airport was expanded with a new terminal and opened a US$5 million, two-story, 3,500-square-meter terminal and upgraded its status from provincial to international airport. Located in 6 km. north-east of the centre of Mary.

Murgap, Turkmenistan

Murgap is a town and a capital of Murgap District in the Mary Province of Turkmenistan. The name comes from root words "mur" - water as in "yagmur"/"yagmyr" literally translated as "drops of water" or rain and "gap" a dish or box, denoting the land as place with water. It is located in the delta of the Murgab River and has a railway station on the Mary - Serhetabat line. In 1973 there were 5700 living in the town and today this has grown to around 10,000.

Sanjan (Khorasan)

Sanjan is an ancient city on the southern edge of the Kara-kum Desert, in the vicinity of the historically eminent oasis-city of Merv. Topographically, Sanjan is located in the Greater Khorasan region of Central Asia. Politically, Sanjan is in the present-day Mary Province of Turkmenistan. Together with Merv, Sanjan was an important stopping place and center of trade on the southern route of the Silk road.

Baýramaly

Baýramaly is a city of Turkmenistan, a seat of Baýramaly District within Mary Province. It lies about 27 km east of the provincial capital Mary, along the main railway line from Ashgabat to Tashkent. In 2009, it had a population estimated at 88,486 (up from 43,824 in the 1989 census). The city is located in a dry oasis in the Murgab.
