Zolochiv Castle

Zolochiv Castle was a residence of the Sobieski noble family on a hill at the confluence of two small rivers in the south-eastern part of Zolochiv, Galicia. The rectangular fort was built in 1634-36 by Jakub Sobieski using the labor of enslaved Crimean Tatars. The Sobieski castle comprised solid walls in a then current Dutch style, with four pentagonal towers at each corner, and the so-called "grand palace".

Pomoriany Castle

Pomoriany Castle (Ukrainian: Поморянський замок, Pomorians'kyi zamok) is a ruined castle in the village of Pomoriany, Zolochiv District, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine. It originated in the 16th century as a well-fortified noble residence on the bank of the Zolota Lypa River. The castle's early owners included Mikolaj Świnka and Jan Sienieński.

Aeroflot Flight 8381

Aeroflot Flight 8381 was the designation on a scheduled flight of a two-engined Tupolev Tu-134 which departed Tallinn Airport in Estonia, at 10:38 am on 3 May 1985, for Chişinău in Moldova, making a stopover at Lviv, Ukraine. While descending to Lviv in overcast weather, it collided at 12:13 with a Soviet Air Force Antonov An-26 which had just taken off from Lviv. The collision occurred at an altitude of 13,000 feet.

Univ Lavra

Univ Holy Dormition Lavra of the Studite Rite (Ukrainian: Свято-Успенська Унівська Лавра Студійського уставу) is the only lavra of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church. It is situated in Peremyshliany Raion, Lviv Oblast. The monastery houses about 100 Studite Brethren. The original Orthodox monastery was founded ca. 1400 by Theodore, the son of Liubartas. Parts of the 15th century walls survive. The abbey was surrounded by a high rampart and a deep moat.
