Battle of Rovno

The Battle of Rovno was a World War II battle between remnant forces of the German XIII Army Corps and the Red Army in and around the Ukrainian city of Rovno on 2 February 1944. Army Group South had instructed XIII corps to establish new defensive positions on the Sdolbuno-Uscie-Rovno-Zolotyov line in order to delay the advancing Red Army who were aggressively pursuing the retreating Army Group as part of the Korsun–Shevchenkovsky Offensive.

Zdolbuniv

Zdolbuniv is a small city in the Rivne Oblast of western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Zdolbuniv Raion, and has an important railway station and cement plant (there is a deposit of chalk). The current estimated population is around 24,600 (as of 2005).

Kurdybań Warkowicki

Before the 1939 Nazi German and Soviet invasions of Poland Kurdybań Warkowicki or Kurdyban–Warkowicki was a village in Wołyń Voivodeship (1921–1939) near the town of Warkowicze in Dubno County, in the eastern part of the Second Polish Republic. The village was a site of an OUN-UPA ethnic cleansing operation against the Polish civilians by the Ukrainian Military Group No. 02 called the "Bohun" during the wave of massacres of Poles in Volhynia between 1942 and 1945.
