Cumnor Hurst

Cumnor Hurst, also known as Hurst Hill, is a wooded hill in the neighbourhood of the village of Cumnor, Oxfordshire, England. It lies to the north of Boars Hill. In 1974 it was transferred from Berkshire. The hill is a landmark on the ridge of Corallian limestone that is topped by Lower Greensand and Kimmeridge Clay. The Kimmeridge Clay provided bricks and tiles, from clay extracted at the Chawley Brick and Tile Works.

Cumnor Hill

Cumnor Hill is a hill in the civil parish of Cumnor, to the west of the city of Oxford in the English county of Oxfordshire. In 1974 it was transferred from Berkshire. It is also the name of the ribbon development between the original Cumnor village and Botley outside the ring road on the outskirts of Oxford. The road up Cumnor Hill was the original route of the A420 between Oxford and Swindon, until the Cumnor Hill by-pass was built in the 1970s. The road is now unclassified.

Matthew Arnold School (Oxford)

Matthew Arnold School is a comprehensive secondary coeducational school, for pupils aged 11 to 18, with specialist status in science and mathematics. It is located just west of Oxford near Cumnor Hill and Botley and is named after 19th century poet Matthew Arnold. The school contains around 1,300 students from years 7 to 13. Its 2008 OfSTED Report noted that "Matthew Arnold is a good school with an outstanding sixth form". In 2008 Matthew Arnold School had its best ever examination results.

Appleton-with-Eaton

Appleton-with-Eaton is a civil parish in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, England, south west of Oxford. It consists of Appleton and Eaton, on the south bank (which is here actually the east bank) of the River Thames. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 897. It can be reached from Oxford by bus via the Whites Coaches 63 service, which runs on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Waiting for God (TV series)

Waiting for God was a very successful British sitcom that ran on BBC1 for five series from 1990 to 1994. It starred Stephanie Cole and Graham Crowden as two spirited residents of a retirement home who spend their time running rings around the home's oppressive management and their own families. It was written by Michael Aitkens. The programme is still repeated in the UK on various channels.
