The Green railway station

Eskdale Green railway station is a railway station on the 15" gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway in Cumbria. Originally known as King of Prussia after the nearby Public House and then its current name, it changed to The Green in the 1960s to get rid of the confusion with this station and the then-name of the terminus, Eskdale (Dalegarth). The current name saw reuse in 2007 after the renaming and reopening of the terminus as Dalegarth for Boot.

River Bleng

The River Bleng is a tributary of the River Irt in the county of Cumbria in northern England. The river gives its name to the valley that it flows through which is called Blengdale. It is thought that the name Bleng is derived from the Old Norse word blaeingr, which translates as dark water, so Blengdale would mean the valley of the dark river. The river rises at Stockdale Head in the Lake District, it then flows south and then east towards its confluence with the river Irt.
