Second Battle of Newbury

The Second Battle of Newbury was a battle of the English Civil War fought on 27 October, 1644, in Speen, adjoining Newbury in Berkshire. The battle was fought close to the site of the First Battle of Newbury, which took place in late September the previous year. The combined armies of Parliament inflicted a tactical defeat on the Royalists, but failed to gain any strategic advantage.

DR-DOS

DR-DOS (DR DOS, without hyphen up to including v6.0) is an operating system of the DOS family, written for IBM PC-compatible personal computers. Speenhamland, Berkshire

Speenhamland is a district of Newbury, Berkshire, which gave rise to the Speenhamland system of poor relief in the early 19th century. It lies to the north of the River Kennet, between the centre of Newbury and the village of Speen to the north-west.

Guyer's Lock

Guyer's Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, between Kintbury and Newbury, Berkshire, England. Guyer's Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury. The canal is administered by British Waterways. It is a grade II listed building.
