Halfway is a hamlet in the civil parish of Welford in the English county of Berkshire. It is located in the district of West Berkshire and the Newbury parliamentary constituency. It is called halfway because it is situated half way between Newbury and Hungerford on the A4 road. It also so called as it is halfway between London and Bristol.

RAF Welford

RAF Welford is an active Royal Air Force station in Berkshire, England. The airfield is located approximately 6 miles northwest of Newbury; about 50 miles west-southwest of London Opened in 1943, it was used during World War II by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as a transport airfield. After the war it was closed in 1946 and placed in reserve status.

Dreweatt's Lock

Dreweatt's Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, between Kintbury and Newbury, Berkshire, England. Dreweatt's Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury. The canal is administered by British Waterways. The lock has a rise/fall of 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m). It is a grade II listed building.

Brunsden Lock

Brunsdon Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, near Kintbury, Berkshire, England. Brunsdon Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury. The canal is administered by British Waterways. The lock has a rise/fall of 4 ft 11 in (1.5 m). The Lock is also known as Brunsden Lock and was the site of a coal and grain merchant's business:Brunsdens for many years. It is a grade II listed building.
