Gurnard's Head

Gurnard's Head (Cornish: Ynyal, meaning desolate one) is a prominent headland on the north coast of the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is near the hamlet of Treen in the parish of Zennor, one mile to the west of Zennor Head. The name is supposed to reflect the fact that the rocky peninsula resembles the head of the gurnard fish. The headland is the site of an Iron Age promontory fort known as Trereen Dinas.

The Carracks

The Carracks (Cornish: Kerrek, meaning rocks) and Little Carracks (Cornish: Karrek an Ydhyn, meaning rock of the birds) are a group of small rocky inshore islands off the Atlantic north coast of west Cornwall, United Kingdom. The name comes from "carrek", the Cornish language word for 'rock'. The Little Carracks were still known as Carrack an Heythen c1920. The islands are located between Zennor and St Ives and are approximately 200 metres off shore.
