Whitebridge, Scotland

Whitebridge (Scottish Gaelic: An Drochaid Bhàn) is a small village on the southeast side of Loch Ness in northern Scotland. It is roughly 25 miles from Inverness and eight miles from Fort Augustus. Whitebridge is home to fewer than 100 people spread over roughly 5 miles. It is a very popular tourist destination. Most of the permanent residents are farmers or gamekeepers, or commute to work in Inverness. Most children attend Stratherrick Primary School in the neighbouring village of Gorthleck.

Cherry Island (Loch Ness)

Cherry Island (Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Muireach, meaning Murdoch's Island) is the only island in Loch Ness, Highland, Scotland, and is an example of a crannog. The island is about 150 yards from the shore near the southern end of the loch. The island was originally 160 feet by 168 feet across, but is now smaller as the level of the loch was raised when it became part of the Caledonian Canal.

Falls of Foyers

The Fall of Foyers is a waterfall on the River Foyers, which feeds Loch Ness, in Highland, Scotland, United Kingdom. The waterfall has "a fine cascade", having a fall of 165 feet. It is located on the lower portion of the River Foyers at grid reference NH497203. The river enters Loch Ness on the East side, North-East of Fort Augustus. This waterfall influenced Robert Addams to write a paper in 1834 about the motion aftereffect.

River Tarff, Fort Augustus

Not to be confused with the Tarf Water which is a tributary of the Tay, nor either the Tarf Water or Tarff Water, both in Galloway. The River Tarff is a river in Inverness-shire in the Scottish Highlands. It rises between the hills of Gairbeinn and Geal Charn and flows northwards then southwestwards and finally north-northwestwards into the Great Glen where it enters Loch Ness at Fort Augustus. The middle and lower reaches of the river are confined within the gorge of Glen Tarff.
