Bolling is a town in Butler County, Alabama, United States. The town was established when the Louisville and Nashville Railroad was built through the pine forest region south of Montgomery. It is commonly believed to have been named for Judge S. J. Bolling of Greenville, Alabama.

Butler County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. Its name is in honor of Captain William Butler, who was born in Virginia and fought in the Creek War, and who was killed in May 1818. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,947. Its county seat is Greenville.
