Horseshoe 2 Fire

The Horseshoe 2 Fire was a 2011 wildfire located along the southeastern flank of the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona. It began in Horseshoe Canyon on the Douglas Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest on May 8, 2011, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The fire was started by human activities, and burned over 9,000 acres in its first day. By June 1, 2011, the fire had burned an area of over 80,500 acres of grasses, shrubs, and trees along the mountain slopes.

Diamond Mountain Center

Diamond Mountain is a Tibetan Buddhist seminary and retreat center located south of Bowie, Arizona in the Sonoran Desert. Oriented towards the Gelugpa school, it was founded by Geshe Michael Roach in 2000 and opened to students in September 2004. It is not an accredited university. The 1,000-acre site was purchased in October 2001 and was formerly known as "Bear Springs Ranch". Diamond Mountain is run by volunteers as a not-for-profit organization and does not charge tuition.

Battle of Apache Pass

The Battle of Apache Pass was fought in 1862 at Apache Pass, Arizona, in the United States, between Apache warriors and the Union volunteers of the California Column as it marched from California to capture Confederate Arizona and to reinforce New Mexico's Union army. It was one of the largest battles between the Americans and the Chiricahua during the Apache Wars.
