Battle of Picacho Pass

The Battle of Picacho Pass or the Battle of Picacho Peak was an engagement of the American Civil War on April 15, 1862. The action occurred all around Picacho Peak, 50 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona. It was fought between a Union cavalry patrol from California and a party of Confederate pickets from Tucson, and marks the westernmost battle of the American Civil War.

Pinal Airpark

Pinal Airpark is a county-owned, public-use airport located seven nautical miles (13 km) northwest of the central business district of Marana, in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. Its main purpose is to act as a "boneyard" for civilian commercial aircraft. Old airplanes are stored there with the hope that the dry desert climate will prevent any form of corrosion in case the aircraft is pressed into service in the future. Even so, many aircraft which are brought there wind up being scrapped.

Saguaro Correctional Center

The Saguaro Correctional Center (SCC) is a prison operated by the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) located in Eloy, Arizona. The prison contracts with the Hawaii Department of Public Safety. As of 2010 the prison, located in the Sonoran Desert, houses the majority of the State of Hawaii's male prison inmates. Saguaro, which houses multiple security levels, is on Arizona State Highway 87, halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. The nearest city with food and lodging is Casa Grande.

Picacho Reservoir

Picacho Reservoir is just 11 miles south of Coolidge in central Arizona. The reservoir was built in the 1920s as part of the San Carlos Irrigation Project. The reservoir's original purpose was water storage and flow regulation for the Florence-Casa Grande and Casa Grande Canals. The lake's design capacity was 24,500 acre feet of water, with a surface area of over 2 square miles .
