Aptos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, California, United States. The population was 6,220 at the 2010 census. Aptos is an unincorporated area of Santa Cruz county, consisting of several small communities. The combined population of the CDPs generally considered as parts of Aptos is around 25,000: Aptos Village, the main business and commerce center on the northwest side of Hwy 1, between State Park Drive and Rio Del Mar Blvd.

SS Palo Alto

SS Palo Alto was a concrete ship built as a tanker at the end of World War I. She was built by the San Francisco Shipbuilding Company at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Oakland, California. She was launched on 29 May 1919, too late to see service in the war. Her sister ship was the SS Peralta. She was mothballed in Oakland until 1929, when she was bought by the Seacliff Amusement Corporation and towed to Seacliff State Beach in Aptos, California.

Rio del Mar, California

Rio del Mar is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, California, United States. The name "Rio Del Mar" was chosen as a "catchy" name to promote real estate in the area during the 1920s. There is no body of water by that name in Santa Cruz County. But there is a large creek, Aptos Creek, that goes through Rio del Mar and empties into the Monterey Bay at Rio del Mar. Aptos Creek is the "Rio" in Rio del Mar. The population was 9,216 at the 2010 census.

Cabrillo College

Cabrillo College is a public community college offering associate degrees and certificates in more than 70 fields of study such as: engineering, computer science, allied health (nursing, radiologic technology, dental hygiene, medical assistant), public safety, marine biology and the visual and performing arts. The college itself is named after the explorer Juan Cabrillo. Its main campus is located in Aptos, California and is situated overlooking the Monterey Bay.
