The Mashantucket Pequot are a federally recognized Native American nation in the state of Connecticut. They are descended from the Pequot people, one of the Algonquian-languages family. Within their Reservation in Ledyard, New London County, Connecticut, the Mashantucket Pequot operate Foxwoods Resort Casino. It is the world's largest resort casino in terms of gaming space and number of slot machines, and one of the most successful economically.

Foxwoods Resort Casino

Foxwoods Resort Casino is a hotel-casino in Ledyard, Connecticut on the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Reservation. A complex of six casinos, the resort covers an area of 4,700,000 sq ft . The casinos have more than 380 gaming tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker and have more than 6,300 slot machines. There are several restaurants within the casinos, among them, is a Hard Rock Cafe. Foxwoods has 2,266 hotel rooms and a two-story arcade for children and teens.

Gales Ferry, Connecticut

Gales Ferry is a village in the town of Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. It is located along the eastern bank of the Thames River. The village developed as a result of having a ferry to Uncasville located at this site, and from which the village was named. Gales Ferry was listed as a census-designated place for the 2010 Census, with a population of 1,162.

Gungywamp

Gungywamp /ˈɡʌndʒiwɒmp/ is an archaeological site in Groton, Connecticut, United States, consisting of artifacts dating from 2000-770 BC, a stone circle, and the remains of both Native American and colonial structures. Among multiple structural remains, of note is a stone chamber featuring an astronomical alignment during the equinoxes. Besides containing beehive chambers and petroglyphs, the Gungywamp site has a double circle of stones near its center, just north of two stone chambers.
