Alvin is a village in South Ross Township, Vermilion County, Illinois, United States. It is part of the Danville, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 316 at the 2000 census. The U.S. Post Office, however, uses the name Alvin and the village is also often known by this alternate name.

Mann's Chapel

Mann's Chapel is a pioneer church in Vermilion County, Illinois that was built in 1857. It is located just east of Illinois Route 1 a few miles south of the village of Rossville. Samuel Gilbert and his son James donated land for use as a cemetery when James' eleven-day-old son Samuel died in August 1839. On April 1, 1855, Samuel and his wife donated additional land next to the cemetery for the chapel.

Bismarck Henning High School

Bismarck Henning High School or BHHS is a high school located in Bismarck, Illinois, and is currently hosting students from Rossville, Alvin, Bismark, Henning, and parts of Danville. The school's demographics currently consist of 98% white students. The 2007 graduation rate was 86.2%. The drop-out rate in 2007 was about 1%, compared to the state average of 4%. As of 2007, the school has 380 enrolled students and is one of the biggest schools in Vermilion County aside from Danville High School.
