It is 10.4 miles long. In the Adair County plat book, Rutt Branch is erroneously spelled "Ruit" Branch. It flows mainly through the northeastern part of Jackson township and northwestern part of Summerset township, as well as into Prussia township.

Nodaway Valley High School is rural high school in Greenfield, Adair County Iowa, United States. It is part of the Nodaway Valley Community School District. The Technology department is led by former Teacher of the Year- the outstanding Jane Woodside. Nodaway Valley (Greenfield) has a wrestling teams.
