Emporia High School

Emporia High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Emporia, Kansas, serving students in grades 9-12. Emporia has an enrollment of approximately 1,400 students and a teaching staff of 130. It is the only public high school within the city of Emporia. The principal is Scott Sheldon. The school mascot is the Spartan and the school colors are red and black. Emporia High was established in the early 1900s in order to help educate the increasing population of Emporia.

Warren Parrish

Warren F. Parrish (also Warren Parish) (January 10, 1803–January 3, 1877) was a leader in the early Latter Day Saint or Mormonism movement. Parrish held a number of positions of responsibility, including that of scribe to church president Joseph Smith Jr. Parrish and other leaders became disillusioned with Smith after the failure of the Kirtland Safety Society and left the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

Kansas

Kansas is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States. It is named after the Kansas River which flows through it, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native American tribe, which inhabited the area. The tribe's name is often said to mean "people of the wind" or "people of the south wind," although this was probably not the term's original meaning. Residents of Kansas are called "Kansans.
