Newellton is a town in northern Tensas Parish in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Louisiana. Lake Bruin

Lake Bruin is an ox-bow lake of the Mississippi River located in Tensas Parish in northeastern Louisiana. It consists of some 3,000 acres of unusually clear water, particularly suited for swimming, boating, and fishing. Part of the lake is owned by the state, which operates Lake Bruin State Park, one of nineteen Louisiana state parks.

Battle of Grand Gulf

The Battle of Grand Gulf was fought on April 29, 1863, during the American Civil War. In the Vicksburg Campaign of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, Union naval forces under Rear Adm. David D. Porter led seven ironclads in an attack on the Confederate fortifications and batteries at Grand Gulf, downriver from Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Davis Island is a large island located in the Mississippi River. It lies mostly in Warren County in the state of Mississippi but is also partly in Madison Parish, in the state of Louisiana. It is located southwest of Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA. The island is approximately 30,000 acres in size depending on the Mississippi River level. Confederate President Jefferson Davis's Brierfield Plantation as well as his brother Joseph Davis's Hurricane Plantation were located on the island.
