Vanceboro international bridge bombing

The Vanceboro international bridge bombing was an attempt to destroy the Saint Croix-Vanceboro Railway Bridge on February 2, 1915. This international bridge crossed the St. Croix River between the border hamlets of St. Croix in the Canadian province of New Brunswick and Vanceboro in the U.S. state of Maine.

Saint Croix, New Brunswick

St. Croix is a Canadian rural community in York County, New Brunswick. The community derives its name from the St. Croix River which flows along its western boundary; this river also forms the International Boundary between Canada and the United States and the community is opposite Vanceboro, Maine to the west. St. Croix is located 8 kilometres west of the village of McAdam. The western terminus of Highway 4 is at the border on the Saint Croix-Vanceboro Bridge over the St.

Saint Croix – Vanceboro Bridge

The Saint Croix – Vanceboro Bridge is an international bridge, which connects the communities of Saint Croix, New Brunswick in Canada and Vanceboro, Maine in the United States, across the St. Croix River. The bridge consists of three reinforced concrete slab spans for a total length of 37.82 metres, which carries a two lane roadway across the river. The bridge was constructed in 1927 as a concrete tee beam structure, and opened in 1928.
