Chesapeake High School (Anne Arundel County)

Chesapeake Senior High School, Anne Arundel County (CHS) is one of two high schools in Maryland by that name. The other is the Chesapeake High School of Baltimore County, Although, the school in Baltimore County is strictly Chesapeake High and does not include Senior in its name as does Chesapeake Senior High in Anne Arundel County. It opened in 1976 and serves students in grades 9-12.

Seven Foot Knoll Light

The Seven Foot Knoll Light was built in 1855 and is the oldest screw-pile lighthouse in Maryland. It was initially installed on a shallow shoal, Seven Foot Knoll, at the mouth of the Patapsco River. The northern reach of this river is the Baltimore Harbor, where the now-decommissioned lighthouse has been placed as a museum. Constructed of 1-inch (25 mm) rolled iron, the lighthouse consists of three main sections. The gallery deck was located 9 feet (2.7 m) above the average high tide waters.

Lake Shore is a census-designated place and an unincorporated community within Pasadena, Maryland, which in turn is in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 19,477 at the 2010 census.

North Point Range Lights

The North Point Range Lights were some of the earliest lights in the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay. Intended to guide ships headed for Baltimore harbor into the Patapsco River, they were superseded by channel construction in the 1870s and '80s, and were replaced by the Craighill Channel Upper Range front and rear lights.

Battle of North Point

The Battle of North Point was fought on September 12, 1814, between General John Stricker's Maryland Militia and a British force led by Major General Robert Ross. Although tactically a British victory, the battle delayed the British advance against Baltimore, buying valuable time for the defense of the city. The engagement was a part of the larger Battle of Baltimore, a strategic American victory in the War of 1812.
