Harmony, Maryland

Harmony is a small unincorporated community in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. It is little more than an intersection of state Routes 16 and 578 on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Its original name was Fowling Creek named after a stream nearby that is a tributary of the Choptank River. There is a small country store with one gas pump, a church, a local produce stand, and lots of farmland.

Preston is a town in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. The population was 719 at the 2010 census. The ZIP code is 21655. The primary phone exchange is 673 and the area code is 410. Preston is home to the Linchester Mill, circa 1682. During the Revolutionary War it supplied grain to George Washington's troops. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 along with the Jacob and Hannah Leverton House.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is a part of the U.S. state of Maryland that lies predominantly on the east side of the Chesapeake Bay and consists of nine counties. As of the 2010 census, its population was 449,226, with just under 8 percent of Marylanders living in the region. The term "Eastern Shore" distinguishes a territorial part of the State of Maryland from the Western Shore of Maryland, land west of the Chesapeake Bay.

Choptank, Maryland

Choptank is an unincorporated town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. The town was founded in the 17th century. It is on the Choptank River running into the Chesapeake Bay. Tradition has it that the name "choptank" was a crude Anglicisation of the Algonquian name for the river, probably in the Nanticoke language. There was also a group of Algonquians called the Choptank tribe.
