Deal Island Wildlife Management Area

Deal Island Wildlife Management Area protects 13,000 acres in western Somerset County near the community of Deal Island. As a wildlife management area, the area is managed by the State of Maryland's Wildlife and Heritage Service to conserve wildlife populations and their habitats, while providing public recreational use of wildlife resources. Features of the Deal Island WMA include over 9 miles of flat trails and a 2,800-acre man-made pond or "impoundment.

Wicomico River (Maryland eastern shore)

The Wicomico River /waɪˈkɒmɨkoʊ/ is a 24.4-mile-long tributary of the Chesapeake Bay on the eastern shore of Maryland. It drains an area of low marshlands and farming country in the middle Delmarva Peninsula. The name "Wicomico" derives from the words wicko mekee, meaning "a place where houses are built," apparently referring to an Indian town on the banks.
